Reinstatement
Reinstatement is the process of restoring a company that a US state has administratively dissolved. It typically requires filing all outstanding reports, paying accumulated fees and penalties, and submitting a reinstatement application. Some states impose a deadline after which reinstatement is no longer available.
In plain terms: Bringing a company the state closed back to life.
Why it matters
Almost always possible and almost always more expensive than staying current would have been. Two things to check quickly: whether your state has a reinstatement window that expires, and whether your company name is still available — names released after dissolution can be taken.
