Billing descriptor

A billing descriptor is the text a customer sees on their card statement identifying a purchase. A descriptor that does not match the trading name the customer recognises is a common cause of disputed transactions and chargebacks.

In plain terms: What shows up on the customer's statement. Make it obvious.

Why it matters

One of the cheapest chargeback reductions available. If the legal entity is 'Northbound Holdings LLC' but the customer bought from 'Pixelpost', set the descriptor to Pixelpost — otherwise a proportion of customers will not recognise the charge.
