Amazon seller account entity requirements and verification

Amazon verifies the business, not just the person. Every mismatch between your registration, your bank account and your utility bill is a verification hold waiting to happen.

Published

Amazon's seller verification is documentary and unforgiving of inconsistency. It is not looking for a reason to reject you; it is matching strings, and strings that do not match get escalated to a human review that can take weeks.

What is checked

  • The legal entity's registration document, matching the name on the account exactly.
  • A business address, often verified against an independent document such as a utility bill or bank statement.
  • A bank account in the entity's name. An account in your personal name for a business-registered seller is a common rejection.
  • Beneficial ownership information, including identity documents for the people behind the entity.
  • Tax information, through Amazon's tax interview.

Register in the entity's name from the start

Sellers frequently open an individual account to test the model and convert later. Changing the legal entity on an established account triggers re-verification, and re-verification can mean the account is restricted while it runs.

There is no good time for that, but there is a worst time, and it is October. Sellers lose entire fourth quarters to a verification review they initiated themselves in September.

One account, one business

Operating multiple seller accounts without approval is against Amazon's policy, and enforcement operates at the account level — meaning a linked account with a problem can affect the others. Amazon links accounts by a wide range of signals: address, bank details, device, beneficial owners.

If you have a genuine reason for a second account, apply for approval rather than assuming a different entity makes it invisible. Different entities with the same beneficial owner and the same address are linked.

Keep the details current

When this changesUpdate the account
Business addressImmediately, and be ready to verify the new one
Bank accountExpect a hold on disbursements while the change is verified
Registered agent or entity nameUpdate before the annual re-verification finds the discrepancy
Beneficial ownersAmazon asks; not updating is a compliance issue in itself

Amazon periodically re-verifies existing accounts, and the check runs against current public records. An entity that has lapsed for a missed annual report, or whose registered agent has resigned, is a failed verification even though nothing about your selling changed.

Keep the entity verifiable

Founders 8 keeps the registration, the agent and the annual filings current — which is what the re-verification checks against.

This is one section of the amazon fba structure guide, which covers the entity choice itself.

Founders 8 tracks obligations and deadlines for your reference. It does not provide legal or tax advice — filings are prepared and reviewed by qualified partners.
